A space to try hard, fail softly, and experiment in very good company.
The Messy Salon is opening its doors for the very first time – and it’s going to be glorious, strange, and a little chaotic. Come inas a character or become one. Bring whatever you’ve always wanted to try on a big stage and show it on our very tiny one: a magic trick, a drag number, a karaoke adventure, a slow-mo striptease of your ankles, a weird performance that defies categorisation – as long as it’s under 20 minutes, we want it. Or just show up and hang out with us. Both are valid.
The Messy Salon invites experiments that embrace audience interaction, dialogue and discourse – you’ll basically be performing amongst the crowd, not just for them.
If you want to show something, please get in touch beforehand. We can offer you space to try things out – but no budget. Donations will be collected for performers at the end of the evening.
Accessibility: Café Cralle has a mobile ramp. No wheelchair-accessible toilet in the venue, but there’s one about 300m away around the corner.
One shared toilet on site, no backstage area – plan your transformation accordingly. All languages welcome. Hosted in English.
